Foodie Guide to Paris' Rue Rambuteau

Sep 6, 2024

Rue Mouffetard, Rue Cremieux, Rue Cler... Paris is known for its incredible streets, some of which offering everything you could ever want. From the famous (but in our opinion, overrated) Rue Mouffetard to the unbeatable Rue Montorgueil (a top favorite), and the buzzing Rue Oberkampf (the whole area is amazing), the city’s streets are full of charm.

Today, we're spotlighting one of the best underrated streets in Paris for food: Rue Rambuteau. Rue Rambuteau links the Les Halles district with the Marais district, and is where you'll find some of our favorite spots to eat just around the corner from landmarks such as the Pompidou museum, and the National Archives. In fact, the huge and gorgeous church, Saint-Eustache, is located at the end of Rue Rambuteau, and is a fantastic alternative to the closed Notre-Dame, if you’re craving a cathedral visit (but otherwise there’s not much else on that far end)

Of course, if nothing here piques your interest, or you’re looking for even more mouth watering recommendations, be sure to check out our guide to Paris. Otherwise, read on!

Looking for breakfast?

LE GAY CHOC

Looking for a fun way to start your day in Paris’ Gay district? Stop by Le Gay Choc for their cheeky, phallic-shaped pastries—a quirky treat that’s sure to make you smile. But beyond the novelty, this bakery offers a delicious variety of baked goods, making it well worth a stop for a quick morning snack. Your specialty coffee stop is just up the street.

TERRES DE CAFE

Terre de Café is one of Paris’ OG coffee roasters and one that you can always depend on. This cozy coffee spot, with several locations around the city, is perfect for a quick morning caffeination. Though it's a bit small for lingering or working, it’s an ideal place to grab a quality to-go coffee before exploring the Marais.

PRO TIP

Pick up a bag of their coffee beans as a thoughtful souvenir or gift for the coffee lover in your life.

How about Lunch?

HOMER FOOD GROUP

HOMER

Homer earned an award in the U.S. for their mouthwatering lobster rolls served on a buttery, homemade brioche. While it’s a bit of a splurge for lunch, it’s definitely worth the price (though adding caviar for 50 euros might be a stretch). We’ve tested both the Connecticut and the Classic lobster rolls, and they’re each decadently delicious.

JANET

We also can't help but mention Homer’s second spot on the same street—Janet. This deli is a must-try, known for its outstanding pastrami sandwich, though the other menu items are just as tasty. And don’t even think about skipping their house-made truffle potato chips! Like Homer, Janet leans on the pricier side, but the hefty portion of pastrami will keep you satisfied for hours—perfect fuel for your next adventure in Paris.

MAN'OUCHE

For the most flavorful and salty wrap you've ever had, head to Man'ouché. Their Za’atar wrap is a game-changer—cheap, shareable, and utterly mind-blowing. Pair it with another wrap like the Dejaje, packed with chicken, garlic cream, mint, sumac, and other delightful flavors. (No fries here, though!)

Note: There's no seating, so grab your wrap to go and enjoy it as you wander, or head around the corner to the peaceful Jardin d’Anne Frank for a sunny spot to eat.

Or an Afternoon Treat?

GLACE BACHIR

Rue Rambuteau is great for an afternoon pick-me-up, whether you need your coffee at Terres de Café, or you want something sweeter - like ice cream! Paris has her fair share of speciality ice cream, and you won’t be disappointed at Glace Bachir. If you love decadent, you’ll find it here; the crispy coating of pistachios is always a temptation.

Maybe You’re Looking for Dinner?

LE RUISSEAU - BURGER JOINT

Burger Joint, an offshoot of one of our favorite burger places in the 18th arrondissement, Le Ruisseau, delivers on all fronts: amazing service, delicious fries, mouthwatering burgers, and a special sauce you won’t forget. Since good burger spots are rare in the Marais (aside from the new installation of our favorite smash burger, Baby Love), this is the go-to place for any burger cravings when you're in the area.

Shall We Finish Off the Evening with a Cocktail?

BAR DEMORY

Situated on the edge of the Les Halles neighborhood that’s typically overcrowded and lacking in great spots, and not technically on Rue Rambuteau - but almost! - Bar Demory is a refreshing oasis. A mix between a late-night bar and a tap house, it's often packed with a younger crowd ready for a fun night out. Known for their local brews, Demory’s beer selection comes straight from their brewery in Pantin, just a few metro stops from central Paris. And if you’re in the Pigalle area (9th arrondissement), you can also check out their partner bar, L'Intrepide, for more great beer and friendly vibes.

Otherwise, we’ve got tons of other Paris recs. Looking for a local pizzeria and brewery? Perhaps a vegan bar with incredible bar snacks? A bar that looks like you’ve stepped back into the 1920s? Maybe you want natural wine and small plates? You can find all of this and more - literally hundreds of the best local Parisian bars and restaurants - in our guide to Paris. A one time payment gives you access for life, and we promise to always keep it updated - we do the research, so you don’t have to.
